Notre Dame Australia - Library FAQs

What is an Electronic Database?

An Electronic Database is a searchable electronic collection of resources.

A database may hold a range of different types of information; journal, book or newspaper articles; journal, book or newspaper citations and abstracts; reports; pictures; and increasingly e-books.

There are two types of database -  indexes or bibliographic databases and full-text databases.

These databases are not the property of the University. They are obtained under a licence.  It is important to note that, amongst other things, the licence restricts access to enrolled students and staff and prevents re-use or re-publication of the material within the database.
